MESSAGE FROM THE ORGANIZERS

The IABSE Korean Group is excited to invited you to the 3rd Young Engineers Colloquium in East Asia which will be held from January 19-20 in Seoul, Korea. The goal of this colloquium is to help young structural engineers (under the age of 40) in East Asia make friends, learn from each other and develop their professional career together. It aims to offer a platform to present their researches, projects and innovative design ideas.

Program

The following three main programs are scheduled over two days. These programs are expected to facilitated lively, in-depth discussions between young researchers and field practitioners.

I. Team design competition: Young engineers will design urban structures in waterfront spaces within the scope given and present their ideas. The design sites and the related information are provided in separate documents. The international experts from the IABSE national groups will evaluate the submitted designs.

II. Presentation of researches and projects: Young engineers can present research papers on any topic in structural engineering including PhD and MS studies. They can also present construction projects of any kind of structures. The presentation will be made verbally.

III. Social activities: For participants, there will be a campus tour and a colloquium dinner arranged. The campus tour includes Extreme Performance Testing Center(ETPC), SNU Museum of Art and SNU Library.

Application for Presentation  

Young engineers can present research papers on any topic in structural engineering including PhD and MS studies. They can also present construction projects of any kind of structures. The Presentation will be made verbally, and the presentation time will be 7 minutes. Young engineers under about 40 years old can apply for presentations. The presentations are going to be held in English. Please submit the application form by December 14^th 2023 via each national group secretary. 

Registration  

Young engineers in any country can make presentations and participate in the design competition. Not only young engineers but also senior engineers are expected to participate in this colloquium and are welcome. Registration fee is 160,000 KRW (About 120 USD). This registration fee includes proceedings, lunch and the colloquium dinner. Please submit the application form by December 14^th 2023 via each national group of IABSE and register online (www.kibse.or.kr) before December 22nd 2023.

- Accommodations are available at Hoam Faculty House.

  Participants can enjoy the relaxed atmosphere with a view of the Gwanak Mountain.

- Direct limousine bus services between Incheon Airport and Seoul National University (duration: about 1.5 hrs) are available with 

  around 30 minute intervals.
